Jordan Brand Officially Reveals the New Spike Forty

Jordan Brand is back with another model and this time around its not a highly anticipated Jordan retro silhouette. Introducing the Spike Forty, the third installment in the Spike Lee Series which follows the inaugural Jordan Spizike and Jordan Son of Mars that followed after. It seems the Jordan 5 plays a strong influencer in the latest silhouette as it features a clear outsole and lace-lock, reminiscent of the signature Jordan shoe that debuted back in 1990. Additionally, you can expect the Spike Forty to play hosts to a phylon midsole along with a zoom air unit in the heel. The Total Orange/Game Royal edition of the Spike Forty is available now via Nike’s website for $180 USD.  More colorways will be available in the future with Game Royal/Orange releasing on November 4, White/Fire Red on November 18 and Black/Fire Red on December 16. Lastly, Jordan Brand’s newest Spike Lee silhouette will also be available on NikeID on December 1.

Google Unveils the New ASUS OnHub Wi-Fi Router

Google has tapped ASUS for the latest edition of its easy-to-use OnHub Wi-Fi router, following up the original August release with a brand new version of the gadget. The reason for such a quick follow-up? The addition of “Wave Control.”

Users can now speed up the Wi-Fi signal to a single connected device by simply waving their hand over the top of the device. Outside of the “Wave Control” addition, the new design offers a slightly modified exterior and a “Slate Grey” paint job. Additionally, like its predecessor, the ASUS-assisted gadget is meant to be left out in the open — unlike your typical, ugly router.

You can find out more about the OnHub here. The latest edition of the router can be pre-ordered now via Google Play for $220 USD.

HYPEBEAST's 5 Last-Minute Halloween Costumes

Halloween is right around the corner, and if you’re anything like us, you probably haven’t even begun thinking about what to dress up as. The annual holiday has become a night where you can either go all-out with intricate costumes, or show no effort at all with predictable get-ups. If you haven’t begun brainstorming on what you’ll go as, here are a few suggestions that are both easy to pull off and somewhat comical (depending on how you choose to accessorize), so you can hide under the guise that you put in at least a little effort.

Yeezy Season 2 Model

Kanye continues to make headlines on our homepage, with most deriving from his Yeezus’ apparel collections for adidas Originals. Now that Yeezy Season 1 is hitting stores, it’s the perfect time to be both ahead of the trends and flex your DIY skills. Dressing up as “Yeezy Season 2” really needs minimal effort, but you’ll still look cool and collected for the night.

What you’ll need:

  • Various T-shirts and jackets in a beige tan color — easily found at your local department store. If you can only find white T-shirts, throw some coffee on them and you’ll get a perfectly disheveled and distressed look. All you need to do is cut up the hems at different lengths and throw it in the dryer for increased fraying, then layer on several.
  • For your bottoms, either wear a pair of old khaki cargo shorts or cut up a pair of old sweatpants to knee-length.
  • For extra emphasis — get a pair of old Uggs or brown boots and slap on a piece of duct tape to make your own pair of Yeezy Boost 950.

Rick Owens Model

Rick Owens is known for his unconventional runway shows, some of which can serve as inspiration for your Halloween costume. You can either be A. human baggage carrying Rick Owens model from SS16 womenswear, B. political statement-making model from SS16 Menswear, or C. private-region-exposing model from FW15.

What You’ll Need:

  • For A, you’ll need a friend (probably one that you’re close with), or a mannequin of some sort. Then you’ll need to carry him/her/it around on your back or front, legs up.
  • B. Simple. Disheveled waxed hair, a mint-colored T-shirt and a cloth that says “KILL ANGELA MERKEL NOT.”
  • C. Well, if you must. Get an old bedsheet, drape it over yourself and make sure it exposes your nether regions.

Marty McFly

Back To The Future is fresh on everyone’s mind and a Marty McFly getup is easy to do even if you don’t own a pair of MAGs. Following Back To The Future Day and the subsequent flooding of social media with reminiscent screengrabs from the film, Marty is as relevant as ever, even though he’s here from 25 years ago.

What You’ll Need:

  • You’ll need a blue-striped white shirt, jean jacket and orange red puffer vest. Match that with jeans, a watch and your most basic Nikes (in the movie he’s specifically wearing the Bruins) and you’re finished! Go for that retro look with slightly slicked back hair and a pair of aviators. Keep up the act with frequent glances at said watch.

Keith Ape

Join the #underwatersquad this Halloween by dressing up as Keith Ape. This getup is as low maintenance as the South Korean rapper looks, who made waves with his viral song and video for “It G Ma.” To go all out, peep his Essentials here.

What You’ll Need:

  • A camo hoodie (or any oversized hoodie), ripped jeans, a camp cap and lab glasses. Defining additions will be a surgical mask, electronic cigarette and a short blonde hair wig — make sure to not comb it out.

“Hotline Bling” Drake

What could be more timely than Drake in his “Hotline Bling” music video? The incessantly meme-d out dance moves from the Canadian artist has made its rounds on the Internet, which means this easy and basic costume will still ring a bell in everyone’s head. You also have a few options here, with many items you probably already own in your closet.

What you’ll need:

  • Wool turtleneck sweater, gray jogger pants, sneaker boots/Timberlands
  • Puffy red down jacket, Jordan T-shirt, light wash baggy jeans, sneaker boots/Timberlands.

Lastly, you’ll need some marker to emulate Drizzy’s recognizable scruff, and of course two iPhones for when that “Hotline Bling.” You’ll definitely need to master those dance moves too, don’t disappoint us when “Hotline Bling” inevitably comes on.

If you’re still struggling, head over to Google’s Frightgeist feature to see which costumes are trending.

Lanvin Head Designer Alber Elbaz Reportedly Stepping Down

According to Racked.com, Head Designer Alber Elbaz is set to leave Lanvin. The French brand has been led by Elbaz as its head designer for the past 14 years and it seems that he may move on to another company, or take a break from fashion altogether. Other possibilities that Elbaz may entertain is the chief creative position at Dior which was last held by the popular Raf Simons. What may have led to him stepping away from fashion is the current system of the industry, as he stated at the Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars; “it’s not about pressure, it’s about the system, and the system has pressure, and the pressure has a system.”

Why Drake's Dance Moves Match Perfectly With Any Song

Drake’s “Hotline Bling” has done much more than make you get up and dance — there’s an apparent sense of comic relief thanks to Drizzy’s dance moves. As a result of Drake truly feeling his own music, his two-step and other moves have led to numerous memes and videos where the original song is substituted, and all have fit the bill in perfect fashion. This begs the question: how come different songs tend to fit with his groove so well? According to Michigan State University’s Devin McAuley who is studying at the Timing, Attention and Perception Lab, the reason is all in our minds.

In a discussion with WNYC’s RadioLab, McAuley stated that “auditory rhythms can drive visual rhythm perception, especially when the visual stimuli are continuous, affording a lot of flexibility with where beats are aligned in the cycle.” Additionally, as our brains continue to recognize these arrangements they’ll continue to mesh numerous songs with Drake’s moves. Have fun finding your favorite song to make the Toronto native get his groove on and check out some of the existing mash-ups below.
